This is my review of 75099 Rey’s Speeder! It was released in 2015 and comes with 2 minifigures: Unkar’s Thug and Rey. It retailed for $19.99 in the US, £19.99 in the UK, and $49.99 in New Zealand. The minifigures are Rey and Unkar’s Thug. Unkar’s thug has a single-sided, gunmetal head piece.
Rey comes with a quarterstaff, a shoulderbag, and a headwrap.
The speeder is mostly dark red, and has a number of play features and flaws.
There are some stud shooters on the front, and what happens when you rotate the bottom engine?
Voila! The side opens and you can access the interior, which has a crate for storing extra studs for the stud shooter.
By turning the engine both left and right, you can open both doors:
As seen in the above image, Rey’s quarterstaff can be clipped onto the side of her speeder. There are also some clips to store extra scavenging tools/ scavenged material.
Here’s a look at some of the accessories in the set:
This is a great set to have and has nice minifigures. But it’s not without flaws.
Judging from the above photo, the front of the ship is very inaccurate. It should be round at the front, instead of being rectangular like the LEGO version is. Understandably this would have been hard to achieve, but MOC builders have been able to do so using mudguard pieces.
In addition, Rey stores scavenged material in a net in the side of her speeder. The LEGO version uses clips, which have a look that is far too clean. It would have been great if they had used a net to cover up the scavenged material.
Another problem is that, while the US and UK price is ok, the New Zealand price is not. It should be $39.99, not $49.99. At $49.99, other sets provide better value.
