The Joker’s Notorious Lowrider is a 2016 The Lego Batman Movie set. It is £54.99 in the UK, $49.99 in the US, and $109.99 in New Zealand. It comes with Batgirl, Harley Quinn, and of course, the Joker himself. It is the same price as the Batmobile, so how well does it stack up against its Bat-companion?

First, the minifigures…

From left to right: Batgirl, Joker, and Harley Quinn. They all have fantastic printing, and Batgirl and Joker have dual moulding. This variant of Joker is exclusive, as is Harley Quinn. Harley Quinn is probably my favorite minifigure of the bunch, due to her high level of detail and excellent hair mould.

Now on to the Lowrider itself…

The Lowrider has a crazy, gaudy look, and the purple and lime green screams “Joker!” It also has several cool features.

First, the chicken hood ornament! The golden chicken is definitely a nice part to get. Also, those sloped grilles in gold only appear elsewhere in the Arctic Roller, at the time of writing. The “Joker” license plate, however, is a sticker.

Another surprise happens when you open the boot. You can see the head of a spring-loaded shooter’s missile. This is because there are two in the boot, and are fired by pressing Technic pins underneath the green roof piece.

It’s a handy way for Joker to get rid of pursuing heroes/heroines. Also note the “HA-HA-HA” license plate sticker. Also, the wheel on the trunk is the same wheel as the Lowrider’s other 4 wheels, so it genuinely can be used as a spare wheel.

The seats have zebra stripe prints! Yes, those are prints and not stickers!

Joker gets a steering wheel and a cute horn on the side of his Lowrider.

There is also a fantastic suspension feature, which is probably the reason for the use of the word “Lowrider”. It is hard to describe it in words, so see it in BrickVault’s video here:

All in all, I think this is definitely a fabulous set, but it does have one huge flaw.

The price.

In the U.S., $49.99 is fine, but £54.99 in the UK and $109.99 in New Zealand means that it is the same price as the Batmobile, which is much larger and has 2 more minifigures. This is truly disappointing. I think it should be £44.99 in the UK perhaps, and $89.99 in New Zealand would be great.

If you can find it at a discount, this is definitely a worthy purchase.
