Hello everybody, today I have my first pre-review of a LEGO Batman Movie set… it is 70914 Bane’s Toxic Truck Attack! This set will likely be £54.99, $49.99 in the US, $109.99 in New Zealand, and $89.99 in Australia. Let’s take a look at the figures, namely, Batman, Bane, and the Mutant Leader.
Batman is just the regular LEGO Batman Movie Batman. I believe this variant is the same one included with the Joker’s Balloon Escape, the Scuttler, Killer Croc Tail-Gator, and Arkham Asylum. He is armed with a Batarang.
Mutant Leader is completely new to LEGO. His comic book character seems rather violent so I’m surprised to see a LEGO version of him. He appears significantly less muscular than his comic book version:
Bane is a very, very nice-looking bigfig. Many have wanted a bigfig of Bane for a long time, and this version is very satisfying. I like the tubes indicating Venom flowing into his arms.
Compared to the movie version, this one seems pretty accurate.
If you look at the back you can see his Venom container. I like it! 👍🏼
There’s also this little build as a toxic chemical tank. If you press on the yellow 1×2 tile it will catapult out a trans yellow build.
There’s also the Whirly Bat build. I’m not a fan of it, as I think they should’ve put a bigger build for Batman. It’s actually based on a real Batman vehicle.
The final build is Bane’s vehicle. I like the big toxic container in the back, plus the huge Gatling gun. Bane’s childhood teddy bear on a flag near the front is a nice touch as well. There is space for Bane to stand in the back. There is suspension for the rear 4 wheels as well, using the same technique as Captain America vs. Hydra.
I think that this set is a pretty good set, thanks in no small part to the fabulous Bane bigfig. However, due to the bigfig, the price is rather high — the build looks rather small for a $49.99 USD set. Personally, I’d wait for a sale, maybe a 20% off sale. At that discount (or more) I’d recommend it.
But what do you think? Will you get this? Let me know in a comment below, and be sure to follow my blog for more cool LEGO stuff! See you in the next post!
