Hello everyone, today I’m taking a look at an old LEGO theme: Atlantis! It was a theme that ran from 2010-2011, and I liked it quite a bit back then.
Let’s dive straight into the article!
LEGO Atlantis was a theme about deep sea exploration. It falls under the “Action & Adventure Themes” category. The first wave had a mainly red and trans green color scheme, while the second wave had a red and yellow color scheme.
8056 Monster Crab Clash was a $6.99 USD set. It was the smallest Atlantis set in the first wave and came with Axel.
The second smallest set from the first wave was 8057 Wreck Raider. It retailed for $9.99. I still own this set, fully assembled, except that one of the grey fins broke 😥 I love the shark guy in this set!
8058 Guardians of the Deep was another really cool set. It had a large brickbuilt shark, and retailed for $14.99 USD. I wanted this set but never bought it.
8059 Seabed Scavenger is another $14.99 USD set. It came with Lance and a Manta Warrior. It has a spinning saw, a grabber claw, suspension, and flick-fire missiles. I own this set too!
8060 Typhoon Turbo Sub was a $24.99 USD set. It had Axel and a Shark Warrior. The engines could flip back to reveal Technic missile and a small grabber claw. It had two flick-fire missiles as well. I didn’t buy this, and I find it looks a little ugly with all the Technic holes.
8061 Gateway of the Squid is an awesome set. It came with two divers (Samantha and Ace), a rare Squid Warrior, and a giant brick-built squid. There is a squid cage and a opening function using a portal key. I wanted this but for some reason couldn’t find it in stores.
8075 Neptune Carrier is another really cool Atlantis set. It has Ace, Axel, and Fish, plus a Manta Warrior and a brick-built Manta. I kinda wish I had bought this back then.
8076 Deep Sea Striker is an interesting set. It’s an… underwater scoropion? I don’t really like this set.
8077 Atlantis Exploration HQ is a big Atlantis set I am lucky to have. It has Fish, Ace, and a Manta Warrior. I really like it. It is nice and big for $49.99 USD (I paid $80 in Singapore for it) and has a transformation feature!
You can lift off the top submarine and fold it up into this submarine. I really like the look of this, too bad I broke it apart for parts 😭 😭
8078 Portal of Atlantis is an impressive set. It retailed for $99.99 USD and contained all 5 Atlantis portal keys. I held back on buying it and regret it now.
8079 Shadow Snapper is a weird-looking turtle with a decent sub. It looks okay I guess, but it was rather hard to find so I never bought it. $29.99 USD price tag.
8080 Undersea Explorer: This is a $39.99 USD set, and I think it was rather cool, but I never saw it physically in stores.
The second wave added Dr Brains from the Power Miners theme and change the color scheme to red and yellow. I never bought any of the 2011 Atlantis sets, but did consider City of Atlantis for a while.
7976 Ocean Speeder was the smallest set of 2011. It retailed for $4.99 and to be honest isn’t a very interesting set.
7977 Seabed Strider is a little walker set. It’s pretty rare to get mechs at $9.99 USD so I think this is rather cute. I think the Hammerhead dude looks weird though.
7978 Angler Attack is such a cool set! I love the big Angler fish and the Barracuda Guardian with his oversized mouth is hilarious!!
7984 Deep Sea Raider is a $29.99 USD set. I think it looks rather haphazard but I like how they included a mini drone version.
7985 City of Atlantis is a rather nice set. It has very Greek-style pillars and includes the King of Atlantis. However it’s $69.99 USD so there’s quite a big price jump.
So that’s my look at the Atlantis sets! It was a cool theme, but I preferred the 2010 wave over the 2011 one. What about you? Do you like Atlantis? Would you like LEGO to make another new theme similar to it? Let me know in a comment below, and be sure to like this article! See you in the next post! 🙂
