71017-1: Lobster Lovin’ Batman CMF Review!

Hey y’all!

You probably remember that I finished reviewing Series 17 of the CMF theme. So I decided to return back to reviewing the LEGO Batman Movie series, and possibly take a look at Series 16 when I’m done.

Today we’re taking a look at 71017-1 Lobster Lovin’ Batman! How good of a minifigure is he?

Let’s cut to the chase straight away: Lobster Lovin’ Batman is one of the greatest, if not the best, LEGO Batman Movie CMFs. He has several plus points:

  1. He is a Batman variant. Not some obscure villain or side character.
  2. Lobster Thermidore is something Batman is very clearly shown eating in the movie, so plus points for being pretty clear in the movie (and not some obscure suit whizzing by on the rack)
  3. New Lobster piece!

I love the new Lobster mold, it’s gonna be very useful for LEGO City setups. One thing that pleasantly surprised me is how the dish is actually printed! I’m always happy to see new printed elements.

I also like his printed bathrobe design as well as his smirk.

All in all, a great, all-rounded minifigure. If I wanted to fault him, it would only be that the lobster can sometimes fall off the plate (no connections). Otherwise, he’s really great.

  1. This is probably my second favorite (Glam Bat wins). Unfortunately mine has a printing crack on his right leg . However at least his mouth wasn’t low as I know a few people copped this defect.
