4436 Patrol Car Review!

Hey guys! Today I’m digging out one of my older sets to review – 4436 Patrol Car! This set was released in 2012 under the Forest Police City subtheme. It contained 92 parts and retailed for £7.99 (UK), $11.99 (U.S.), $15.99 (Aus), and $19.99 (NZ). There are two minifigures included – a police officer and a robber.

  • The robber is not a very special minifigure, but he gets the job done I guess. He has the very common LEGO robber face, along with a common black hat and a striped jail torso.
  • The Forest Police officer is a little bit more interesting. He wears a dark tan uniform and blue jeans, and has a tan hat. The hat looks decent, but I think that the brim not having any bend to it makes it look a little fake. The officer has some silver sunglasses and handcuffs.

There are two builds in the set – a police car and a barrier section. The police car is fairly simple. It’s built around the standard LEGO City car chassis and is fairly standard as far as LEGO City cars go. Two windscreens are placed back-to-back to make it look like a hatchback, and there are stickers saying “POLICE” along with a siren on top of the roof. Despite its small size, you can fit both the officer and the robber into the car, which is neat for practical play. Off to the police station! The other build is a little barrier build. Based on the box art, it looks like it leads into the forest. There’s a section of road that slopes up onto the main build – the slope is cleverly made from the jail bars panel element and looks pretty good if you ask me. There’s also a stickered triangular sign off to the side that lets drivers know bears might be in the area. The barrier can be hinged up and down thanks to the Technic pin. However, the criminal may find it easier to just jump over.

On the whole, I think this is a decent set with pretty good value. The minifigure selection is relatively boring but the builds are good for play and the price is neat too.

  • Builds: 3.5/5
  • Minifigures: 3/5
  • Playability: 4/5
  • Price: 4/5
  • Personal Rating: 3.5/5
  • TOTAL: 3.6/5
