60175 Mountain River Heist Review!

Hey guys! Today I’m reviewing a Mountain Police (which is basically the 2018 reboot of the 2012 Forest Police theme) set – 60175 Mountain River Heist! This set retails for £39.99 (UK), $49.99 (U.S.), $59.99 (Aus), and $79.99 (NZ). It has 387 pieces. There are four minifigures included.

  • The first minifigure is a security guard. He wears a nice dark green and white outfit, along with a grey vest printed onto his torso. He has an angry expression and handcuffs.
  • The second minifigure is the police pilot. She has the same head and helmet as the pilot from 30351 Police Helicopter, but wears the dark tan Mountain Police pilot outfit. Personally, I’m not a fan of the Mountain Police pilot design, but maybe you do! Let me know in the comments below 🙂
  • The third minifigure is a crook. He has a pretty common brute-like face. For fashion, he has a red cap and a brown fur jacket with an inmate uniform underneath.
  • Last up is also a crook. He has black hair and a scowling expression which is new for 2018. He also wears an inmate uniform and grey pants, and carries a chainsaw which will be important to the heist.

There are four builds in the set, the first of which is this amphibious 6×6 vehicle for the crooks. It has a red color scheme and six wheels with big balloon tires. There’s a windscreen, a couple of lights, and a couple of grilled slopes to represent the engine. A minifigure can be placed inside to drive the vehicle. There’s a chain at the back to pull stuff. The second build is a tree. It looks rather unremarkable but is an important part of the heist to the crooks. The tree can be knocked over thanks to a Technic connection. Not only are the crooks stealing things, they’re also practicing deforestation! The third build is a van. It transports valuables to and from the bank, and has a nice green and white color scheme which matches the security guard’s uniform. There’s a nudge bar at the front and a seat inside for the security guard to drive the vehicle. The interior of the van holds a tray of gold. There’s a Technic hole that sticks out of the back, and you can attach the grappling hook on the end of the amphibious vehicle to that hole. Then, when you drive away the amphibious vehicle, it pulls out the tray of gold right through the doors, ready for you to speed away with the loot! The final build is a propeller plane for the Mountain Police. It has the landing gear of a seaplane, represented by yellow slopes and plates. There’s a propeller on the nose of the plane, with some silver engine detailing on either side just behind it. There’s a cockpit for the Mountain Police pilot to sit inside, and there’s one of the new net shooters mounted on the side. The new net shooters work decently well but the net is a bit small and the shooter looks kind of clunky on the other side. The other side of the cockpit has some Technic holes so you can put the net shooter on either side.

So here’s the suggested story. The van is speeding along with the tray of gold in the back. It comes by the tree, but watch out! The criminal is waiting!

The criminal chops down the tree with his chainsaw! (This also makes the beehive drop from the tree. The beehive is a new piece for 2018.)

The beehive falls on the criminal’s head and he runs away in pain, but the van is still stopped.

The criminals’ amphibious vehicle drives up, attaches the grappling hook, and speeds away with the gold, while the security officer desperately tries to chase him on foot. His efforts, however, are futile.

Fortunately, a Mountain Police plane happens to be flying by. The pilot launches the net on the amphibious vehicle, and catches the crook!

The criminals are rounded up by the police and are going to be sent off to jail!

Overall, I think this is not a bad set. It has some nice builds that allow you to act out a fun play story, and the price is quite good too. The minifigure selection is a little small but it serves the purpose decently enough.

  • Builds: 4/5
  • Minifigures: 3/5
  • Playability: 4/5
  • Price: 4/5
  • Personal Rating: 4/5
  • TOTAL: 3.8/5
